Comprehensive Support Activities by Ashajyoti

In addition to direct services for children with disabilities, Ashajyoti actively supports and implements a wide range of complementary programs aimed at strengthening families, building inclusive communities, and fostering holistic development. These include:

1. Caregiver Meetings & Training

  • Regular caregiver meetings are held to discuss challenges, share experiences, and build emotional resilience.

  • Training sessions equip caregivers with essential knowledge on child care, disability management, therapy follow-ups, and emotional support.

2. Awareness Camps (Supported by DLSA & Others)

  • Legal awareness camps in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) inform parents and community members about rights, protection laws, and entitlements for persons with disabilities.

  • Health awareness camps provide vital information on disability prevention, early intervention, and general health practices.

3. Health Camps

  • Periodic health check-up camps are organized in partnership with government and private health professionals to monitor the well-being of the children and provide referrals when necessary.

4. Linkage & Referral with Government Sectors

  • Families are supported through linkages with government schemes such as disability certificates, pensions, nutrition programs, assistive devices, and inclusive education services.

  • Referrals are made to appropriate government departments for rehabilitation, legal aid, or specialized support.

5. Disaster Relief Support

  • Ashajyoti extends help during natural disasters through relief distribution, psychological first aid, and support for vulnerable families, especially those with disabled children.

6. Home Visits

  • Regular home visits are conducted by therapists, educators, and social workers to monitor child progress, guide families, and provide therapy follow-ups in a familiar environment.

7. Parental Support & Mental Health Care

  • Counseling and emotional support services are provided to parents coping with stress, grief, or isolation related to raising a child with special needs.

  • Group therapy and peer support circles are also facilitated.
